Welcome to FanGrrl Magnet...

Erica Blitz, who often goes by the online handle ProgGrrl(*), is a fan and a grrl. She works in film marketing (recent work can be seen here, here, here, here and here). She used to blog quite a lot for the beloved fansite Galactica Sitrep about her favorite TV show. Nowadays she spends much of her online time making her Twitter feed as awesome as possible. Before starting FanGrrl Magnet, she kept a goofy and squee-ful livejournal. Here's her FriendFeed.

FanGrrl Magnet covers beloved bits of TV, film, new media, and pop culture.

Shows on the Magnet radar include MAD MEN, TRUE BLOOD, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, THE COLBERT REPORT, THE DAILY SHOW, DOLLHOUSE, ROBOT CHICKEN, DAMAGES, NURSE JACKIE, SAVING GRACE, BIG LOVE, GLEE, WEEDS, CALIFORNICATION, TORCHWOOD, FLASHFORWARD, UNITED STATES OF TARA, BORED TO DEATH, IN TREATMENT, GREY'S ANATOMY, PRIVATE PRACTICE, V, DEFYING GRAVITY, MERLIN, LOST, SECRET DIARY OF A CALL GIRL. Future TV that we are tracking here includes CAPRICA, TREME, SPARTACUS, and a ton of stuff in development right now. Shows that will live on in our memory: all Joss Whedon, DEADWOOD, ROME, OZ, TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES, SIX FEET UNDER, SEX AND THE CITY, THE SOPRANOS, LA FEMME NIKIA, ALIAS.

The lifeblood of the best film and television is good stories, well told, with original vision and great craft. Folks who know what they are doing, and do it well, get a lot of attention here. A sample: Jason Reitmen, Diablo Cody, Tim Burton, the Coen brothers, Jane Campion, Matthew Weiner, Joss Whedon, Shonda Rhimes, David Milch, Sophia Coppola, Judd Apatow, Pedro Almodovar, Alan Ball, Ron Moore, David Lynch, David Fincher, Ang Lee, Sam Raimi, Paul Thomas Anderson, Nora Ephron...

This site is for fangrrls, fangirls, fans, girls, and the people who love them. Here we favor intelligent, positive discussion and information dispersal -- rather than eye candy, goofball squee, spoilers, fan fiction, or mind-boggling speculations. Not that the latter doesn't satisfy now and then.

* Prog is short for Progressive. Grrl is a reference to the punk-rock-and-roll-feminism of the 1990s Riot Grrls movement, whose spirit will live forever.
